Course Description
Core Subjects (1st Semester)
The typical course load includes six subjects:
- Legal Methods: An introduction to the legal system, sources of law, and legal reasoning.
- Law of Torts: Including Consumer Protection Laws and Motor Vehicles Act.
- General English: Focused on legal communication and language skills.
- Political Science / Management Foundations:
- BA LLB (Hons): Political Science-I (Foundations of Political Science).
- BBA LLB (Hons): Principles of Management or Business Environment.
- Sociology / Economics: Foundational courses in Sociology or Microeconomics depending on the integrated track.
Academic Regulations & Assessment
- Assessment Pattern: Most theory subjects follow a 40 (Internal) + 60 (External) distribution for a total of 100 marks.
- Attendance Requirement: Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each subject to be eligible for semester-end examinations.
- Continuous Evaluation: Assessment includes surprise quizzes, individual assignments, online tests, and presentations

1.0 ADMISSIONS: Admissions into Full Time FiveYear Integrated BA.LLB (Hons) Programme of School of Law, are governed by GITAM Deemed to be University (Estd u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956) admission regulations. 1.1 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Eligibility criteria for 5 Year programmes: Admission into Five year Integrated BA.LL.B (Hons) is based on the qualifying examination. To be eligible into this programme, a candidate should have passed Higher Secondary School / Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks for General Category, 42% for OBC and 40% in case of SC / ST and persons with disability. Candidates who are appearing / have appeared 10+2 examination and are awaiting results also eligible to appear in the test. The age of the candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of general category and 22 years in case of SC/ST and persons with disability as on 1st July. 2.0 STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME: The BA.LLB (Hons) Five year integrated Programme is designed, keeping in mind the objectives stated earlier and structured by including courses on various aspects of Law. This entails an in-depth study of core courses in the ten semesters. 3.0 CREDIT BASED SYSTEM: The course content of individual subjects – classroom lectures as well as practicals is expressed in terms of a specified number of credits. The number of credits assigned to a subject depends on the number of contact hours (lectures &practicals) i.eminimum 60 sessions per course and each programme consists of total 236 credits including Internships. However, students doing special courses on MOOCS / SWAYAM, 1 credit will be awarded for one course certificate in each semester from 7th Semester onwards, subject to maximum of 4 credits.
